Live U announces plans for IBC, recent business successes and local 2020 Summer Olympics support.
The 2019 LiveU IBC exhibition stand will present the company’s lineup of 5G-enabled solutions with spotlights on LiveU’s latest portable transmission solutions. Center stage is its flagship LU600 HEVC 4K-SDI edition. It facilitates professional 4Kp50/60 streaming for top-quality production and supports VR and 360 applications.
Another spotlight will be on the LU300 HEVC solution. The LU300 is a smaller field unit for high-quality, video-on-the-go. It can also serve as a standalone video encoder or be used as a LiveU DataBridge mobile hotspot for general connectivity in the field. The LU610 4K HEVC professional 1U 4K HEVC rackmount for vehicles and fixed locations will also be spotlighted. The rackmount encoder is based on LiveU’s LU600 4K HEVC technology.
The company will show its latest Remote At-Home Production applications for sports and live event producers, such as Tally Light to tell field reporters instantly when they’re live on air with a red-light indicator connected to a LiveU unit.
LiveU Graphics will be on-stand. It is an easy-to-use professional cloud production tool for adding dynamic graphics to live streams. The stand will display AV sync supporting up to 8 audio channels, and LiveU Control to enable easy remote control of LiveU units via smartphones.
Precision measurement of end-to-end delay allowed by LiveU’s Remote At-Home Production will be demonstrated. It allows users to produce more multi-camera events with simplified logistics and reduced costs produced from a centralized studio control room instead of costly on-site production and satellite trucks.
LiveU AI, a story-centric AI service for global newsgathering will be explained and demonstrated. The complete service, powered by newsbridge, offers a powerful set of contribution and AI-based video indexing tools for enriching, searching and accessing live or file-based content, operating within the LiveU Central cloud management platform.
The company will also show its new LiveU Central feature, Single Sign On (SSO) for secure user management, integrated with the customer’s active directory or Identity as a Service (IDaaS).
LiveU will demonstrate Matrix, LiveU’s next-generation IP video distribution platform, recently selected by CBS Newspath. Matrix provides a highly efficient content curation service and unparalleled access to live feeds from LiveU units in the field and other sources without interruption. Matrix is ideal for sports producers wanting to live stream events easily and cost-effectively to multiple destinations and TV stations.

2020 Summer Olympics
Looking towards the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo, LiveU is already gearing up to support hundreds of customers with local HEVC technology to deliver live video from the 2020 Summer Games in Japan. LiveU has Japanese technical conformity certification for all its mobile encoders using cellular modems and extensive experience in the Japanese market.
LiveU recently announced it is offering local rental units in Japan and 24/7 on-site support to ensure superior connectivity covering the 2020 Games. It also announced 15% off if booked by the end of IBC 2019.
LiveU recently announced an extended partnership with Griiip, a company that develops data-based content solutions for Motorsport series. The partnership combines LiveU’s ability to establish high-quality and reliable remote live broadcasts with Griiip’s data content solutions for engaging motorsport programming.
The two companies have been cooperating for the past two years and the solution has been successfully implemented in this year’s G1 Series across Europe, watched by fans around the world, including on ESPN in Brazil. Other Formula series are also now evaluating the solution for their own races.
