The cloud-based Xchange platform allows the OAS production team to extend access to content across its offices in North and South America.
Headquartered in Washington DC, Organization of American States (OAS) is comprised of the 35 independent states within North and South America and it’s mission is to promote peace and prosperity across the continent. It takes a lot of meetings and recorded sessions to help achieve its goals, which have to be transcribed for closed captioning and other activities, so managing and repurposing its vast archives of assets is a massive undertaking.
While it has struggled with an aging MAM system, the OAS recently committed its archiving future to a media asset management and workflow automation platform from Primestream. Called the Xchange platform, it’s hosted in the cloud and uses artificial intelligence (AI) software to streamline the processes involved in cataloging and managing hundreds of hours of media assets. In addition to the automated transcription services, Primestream Xchange in the cloud will make the media content searchable using metadata as well as facial and text recognition.
In addition, by adopting Primestream’s technology, the OAS will now extend access to video content and related documentation to its offices across the Americas.
The AI integration will help the staff recognize every representative speaker within any video generated from any session of the OAS. Concurrently, the audio content will be transcribed from multiple languages so it can be quickly delivered to the 35 OAS member countries, which includes every country in the Americas. This is a significant improvement over the previous manual process, which could take up to 30 days to accomplish the same tasks.
Alan Dabul, Director of Product Development at Primestream, said that the OAS now has a cloud-based intelligent service that will empower the Ambassadors and the different departments of the OAS with new tools to improve the documentation and video cataloging workflows with new operational efficiencies.
