The codec has been updated to incorporate the technical advances from the last decade including completely new hardware, allowing for AES67, AES3 or analog audio I/O.
The ACCESS NX Rack features new hardware and supports AES67, AES3 or analog audio I/O. ACCESS NX Rack can connect to Wi-fi and 4G modems, and supports a wide arrange of connection protocols and audio encoders. It’s driven via a new HTML5-based web user interface.
ACCESS NX Rack is compatible with all Comrex IP audio codecs as well as the company's FieldTap smartphone app. ACCESS NX Rack also includes CrossLock technology, a proprietary suite of tools that solidify connections over IP networks. By sending redundant streams through two separate networks, which results in a fail-safe in the event that the primary network falters.
ACCESS NX Rack also includes HotSwap, which allows users to designate one network as a backup that will only engage when the primary network has failed. Fall-over to backup requires but seconds and is is seamless.
Comrex demonstrated its new HTML5-based GUI, which is Included for free in a new firmware update for ACCESS and BRIC-Link codecs.
Because Adobe has announced the end of Flash support, and because most browsers disable Flash by default, Comrex has provided an alternative to the Flash-based GUI with this new, fresh, moreuser-friendly interface. Using the new user interface is optional, even when firmware is updated. All current Comrex IP audio codecs by default still use the Flash interface, as well as Toolbox, Codec Commander, and Fleet Commander .
The new firmware includes Comrex’s new HotSwap feature, that allows users back up studio-to-transmitter links (STL) or other dedicated links with a wireless modem. Users can select a network that will only be engaged if the primary network fails. The system will warn of this status with a contact closure, and automatically fallback to the primary once it’s restored. Fall-over to backup happens in a matter of seconds, and is seamless.
Both ACCESS NX Rack and ACCESS MultiRack have the new HTML5 user interface, and were featured in the company's booth.
