University of Warsaw HD TV studio control room
The University of Warsaw’s journalism department television studios have been upgraded to HD with new playout systems and a virtual studio. The installation was carried out by technology provider and installer 4Visions in conjunction with PBT EU, which supplied its range of broadcast servers.
The journalism course at the University of Warsaw is divided into four specialist modules: digital media, press, broadcasting and television. As well as theoretical and methodical studies, students learn practical skills that will assist them when they enter the industry. The new HD television studio will play a key role in this, supported by a range of professional equipment used in professional news broadcasting, including a Soundcraft Si Expression 1 digital audio mixer, Sennheiser microphones, HP IT hardware, AJA devices and Sony cameras.
Also part of the installation are EXEcutor broadcast servers from PBT EU. Introduced at IBC 2016, the EXEcutor line is aimed at broadcast, production and post-production facilities. It is designed to be a 'channel-in-a-box' and can be configured to deliver any combination of component services offered by PlayBox software. This makes it able to work with traditional, streamed and hybrid production chains and connect to either public or private cloud platforms.
The University of Warsaw installation was overseen by 4Visions' account manager Wojciech Lazuk and technical specialist Mariusz Tomala, who worked in conjunction with representatives from PBT EU. Commenting on the project, PBT EU sales director Alex Stoyanov said, "We feel it is not only our responsibility as a technology provider to empower young people at the start of their careers but also the duty of the industry to provide the latest in innovation to educational institutions so students are always at the forefront of technologies."
