AJA Enhances Mini Converters With UltraHD Support And Is Now Shipping Kona 5 Card

AJA Video Systems has released v1.1 firmware for its IPR-10G-HDMI Mini-Converter, which enables signal conversion from SMPTE ST 2110 IP video/audio to HDMI. Available as a free download, the update adds support for UltraHD up to 30p and integrates new improvements for discovery, registration and control.

Nick Rashby, President, AJA Video Systems, said the new update meets a critical need in the market, allowing professionals to output UltraHD signals across IP networks to the latest HDMI devices and displays.

The compact and fanless IPR-10G-HDMI Mini-Converter receives SMPTE ST 2110 over 10GigE connectivity and formats the data for output as video and audio on a full-size HDMI interface, with simultaneous analog audio output via an RCA interface.

New v1.1 firmware for the device includes: Support for 10-bit, 4:2:2 uncompressed UltraHD (3840 x 2160p 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30); Discovery, registration and control; NMOS; and Ember Plus (Control only)

IPR-10G-HDMI v1.1 firmware can be downloaded for free from AJA’s support page. IPR-10G-HDMI is available through AJA’s worldwide reseller network for $1145 US MSRP.

AJA Video has also announced that its KONA 5 card is now shipping. The KONA 5 is a video and audio I/O card supporting the latest 12G-SDI I/O and HDMI 2.0 monitoring video connections. It’s designed for workstations or Thunderbolt 3-connected chassis. KONA 5 enables single-cable 4K/UltraHD high frame rate, deep color and HDR workflows with the most popular creative applications on macOS, Windows, and Linux. For Developers using the AJA SDK, KONA 5 also offers advanced features including multi-channel 4K I/O and 8K 60p support.

KONA 5 feature highlights include12G-SDI I/O and HDMI 2.0 output for 4K, UltraHD, 2K, HD and SD with HFR support up to 4K 60p at YUV 10-bit 4:2:2, and RGB 12-bit 4:4:4 up to 4K 30p. It also offers four bi-directional 12G-SDI ports and one Reference In, on HD-BNC connectors (with HD-BNC to full-sized BNC cables included); 16-channel embedded audio on SDI, 8-channel embedded audio on HDMI; 8-channel AES audio I/O, LTC I/O, and RS-422 serial control via supplied break-out cable; 10-bit downstream keyer in hardware; and AJA SDK compatibility, offering advanced features including multi-channel 4K I/O and 8K capture or playout.

The Kona 5 card also is fully compatible with the most common editing systems, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro X, Avid Media Composer, Telestream Wirecast, and AJA Control Room.

KONA 5 is now available through AJA’s worldwide reseller network for $2995.
