Australia’s EnhanceTV taps Ooyala for video portal

Ooyala’s Flex Media Platform has been chosen by Australia’s EnhanceTV service to simplify workflow tasks and automate them where possible across the whole video supply chain from curation, production, ingestion, though to distribution and Video-on-Demand (VoD) playback.

Deployed on cloud infrastructure, the platform was implemented by Ooyala’s Gold partner, Digital Logistics. The platform incorporates Ooyala’s content production and distribution software to automate repetitive tasks, simplify some of the complex processes and ensure timely delivery to end users. One distinctive feature on the playout side is the ability for users to create and share clips from programs using a search function.

EnhanceTV is a subsidiary of the not-for-profit organization Screenrights set up to provide Australian primary and secondary schools with licensed TV and film video content, including news, clips and documentaries, for use in the classroom on a subscription basis. Educators are able to curate and share content via the service, which was one of the reasons for the choice of Ooyala, given that Screenrights was looking to create a video portal encouraging content discovery. The organization also wanted to establish an automated and scalable process to manage and publish content from its contributors.

“We needed a solid and scalable solution to modernize our legacy infrastructure, support our business expansion and manage our large library of content and complex business rules,” said Stefan Savva, Head of EnhanceTV. “The Ooyala Flex Media Platform, with its flexible architecture and strong orchestration capabilities, helps us to increase efficiencies, reduce manual processes, and manage our growing library of content.”
