Audio-Technica Introduces New Shotgun Microphones

Audio-Technica unveiled a pair of new shotgun microphones. The BP28 and BP28L combine low-noise, large diaphragm condenser elements in shotgun models with extremely tight polar patterns.

Audio-Technica said the mics ideal for long-range sound recordings. Two length options are available, with the BP28 being 355mm long, the BP28L 568mm – both feature a patented acoustic port to maintain directionality across the entire frequency range.

The new models offer high dynamic range with self noise of 3dB (BP28L) and 8dB (BP28) in conjunction with an SPL handling (143dB in the case of the BP28 and 138dB for the BP28L). They bring studio microphone-like response to distance miking applications such as on movie sets, location TV, sports broadcasting and more.

The BP28 and BP28L are expected to be available in Europe in Winter 2018 with recommended retail prices €1188 / £1080 inc VAT for the BP28 and €1366.80 / £1236 inc VAT for the BP27L. Both BP28 and BP28L ship with Rycote transport and protector case included.
