The Ark Selects MatrixStore

London post house The Ark has purchased a Petabyte of storage from Object Matrix.

MatrixStore from Object Matrix was selected to replace an existing Object Storage solution, as the Ark's media library was becoming costly to maintain and expand.

Dan Martin, from The Ark, commented: “With a huge amount of content being housed in our storage system, we were looking for a cost-efficient way to do this whilst keeping the high level of functionality, security and elasticity of object storage.

“We have been really impressed with MatrixStore, which addressed our needs technically and commercially, by being secure and intuitive whilst being extremely easy to migrate existing content onto. The other big benefit was having local support which was key in our decision making. MatrixStore applications enable us to quickly search and reuse our content, and now that we have the future proof platform our business can grow with, we can start to introduce further workflows that includes implementing disaster recovery.”

Services offered at the Ark include quality control, film transfers, full restoration and remastering, and complete editing and audio facilities. MatrixStore was also selected for its ability to support a future integrated disaster recovery workflow across multiple sites while integrating with public cloud storage to further increase elasticity and flexibility.
