New MuxLab Extender Sends Uncompressed 4K up to 100 Meters

Innovative new product from MuxLab offers a simple solution for uncompressed 4K HDMI distance issues.

Quebec-based MuxLab recently announced the availability of its next generation HDMI 2.0 Fiber Extender Kit model 500464.

The transmitter/receiver system comes in a small footprint with rugged, dongle-style enclosures that can be connected discreetly to the source and extended display. It enables the user to transmit 4K (4096×2160) video at 60Hz signal up to 330ft (100m) via a duplex OM3 multi-mode fiber, with any form of scaling or data compression being applied to the signal. The device supports a total data throughput of 18Gbps (6Gbps per lane) to accommodate the current HDMI specification.

The unit supports two (2) LC connectors The Transmitter may be powered via USB power (with the included power supply), or from the 5V supplied from pin #18 of the HDMI connector of the source side only.

To further streamline the installation, the transmitter offers the option of receiving power from its USB port or from the sources HDMI connection. The system supports HDMI 2.0, CEC, EDID and HDCP 2.2.
