OWNZONES Unifies Cloud Platform With Consumer Video Applications

OWNZONES Media Network, a California based provider of tools and apps for OTT, has integrated its cloud-based Connect media logistics platform with its consumer video applications. The goal is to cut costs and manage discovery for content owners by exploiting the firm’s app framework, irrespective of the technology they are currently using.

The solution provides a choice of ready-to-use design templates that can make it easy to quickly launch an app based on the most effective layout for the client’s target audience. Another feature is the ability quickly to localize an app to multiple regions by selecting them from a displayed list, eliminating the need to develop different apps for each language. Major world cities are included as selections, with support for geo-restriction options to prevent access by regions where content is not licensed or available. A cloud-based data warehouse allows the integration of analytics, to help gain insights around content performance and trends.

This new integration follows announcement of two OWNZONES Connect features, called– Cloud ProRes Previewer and ProRes Based IMF Packaging. These tools allow customers with libraries of content mastered in ProRes to harness the power of IMF more quickly without incurring massive conversion costs.

As post-production processing continues to migrate to the cloud, OWNZONES’s strategy is focused on distributing digital content as efficient as possible to all devices. It also acts as a post house in the cloud offering editing, conversion and encoding, motion graphics, sound mixing and editing. For the latter it offers Cloud IMF transcoder, Native Cloud CPL Builder, Cloud-based CPL Source Previewer, Cloud-based IMF Playback, Supplemental Packager and Elastic Parallel Transcoding.

“By essentially re-architecting our backend and API, we are now leveraging the latest technologies for improved scalability and flexibility,” said Aaron Sloman, Chief Technology Officer at OWNZONES. “Unifying our OWNZONES Connect and consumer video applications allows real-time changes to the content and content discovery experience.”
