VoIP and Party Line Connectivity from Clear-Com at LDI 2017

Clear-Com exhibited at the Live Design International (LDI) Show in Las Vegas, highlighting its latest range of LQ Series IP interfaces. These are now able to link into telephony systems as well as broadcast comms installations, with mobile voice over IP capability through the Agent-IC app.

Live event production often involves more than one communications system, particularly if broadcasters are involved, so Clear-Com has developed the LQ Series as a general interface that can connect any two or four-wire intercom using an IP network.

A further dimension is offered by the Agent-IC mobile client application for remote connectivity. This runs on Apple iOS or Android phones and tablets, with each LQ interface able to connect to a total of eight Agent-IC clients. This means up to eight users can use the intercom over 3G/4G or WiFi connections.

Additionally the LQ Series is able to work with VoIP phone systems using SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) technology. SIP is a communications protocol for signalling and controlling multimedia communication sessions. It is predominately used for voice and video conferencing calls and is increasingly being integrated into professional broadcast intercom situations. The LQ Series is now able to allow Clear-Com systems - and other brands - to dial direct telephony calls.

Commenting on the new updates, Clear-Com product manager Stephen Sandford said, "The combination of Clear-Com's party line intercoms, LQ Series IP interfaces and Agent-IC apps makes it possible for any live performance to extend full duplex communications quickly and affordably."

LDI 2017 took place at the Las Vegas Convention Centre from 13 to 19 November.
