Bitmovin said it has officially been qualified as a video transcoding partner by Akamai Technologies, a CDN and edge-processing platform, to enable secure digital content delivery to all consumer platforms. Akamai has worked closely with Bitmovin since Bitmovin ended its Media Services on Demand (MSOD) transcoding service two years ago.
Synamedia, a startup formed late 2018 via a buyout of Cisco Systems’ video software unit, has announced two extensions of existing deals in Asia with Indian telco Bharti Airtel and Malaysian satellite TV operator Astro.

With plans to make a gradual transition to IP distribution, cloud-based operations and 4K UHD, the company was looking to replace aging playout and master control infrastructure with flexible technology that would enable them to efficiently run their current business and easily evolve to meet future requirements.
